Day Eight, Saturday, June 26:
Tourist day. Our group and the CALMS group from Houston elected to stay in Guatemala an extra day in order to visit the Maya ruins in Copan, Honduras because of their historical significance. The Maya site was inhabited from about 400 AD to 900 AD. Our tour guide at the site had worked there for 30 years and gave a very detailed tour, so we all now know much more than we ever thought possible about the Maya culture. It was an exciting day.
Footprints in the - mud?
Two sets of footprints became one as Mike carried Karla across a muddy spot. :-)
Sad goodbyes to all our friends this evening. We presented Carlos, Nora and their sons with a cross for their house and gave Pastor Andres an Abiding Savior T-shirt as a small token of our thanks for all they did for us this week.
